This class is centered on investigating the place we are in through words, pattern, and image, and is tailored to the interests of the group.
Class exercises are designed to strengthen the work of students at all levels. We will explore writing, watercolor, and drawing and calligraphy in traditional and experimental ways. All levels of experience are welcome.
What a typical day might look like …
Each morning brings a new adventure as we head out in our van to a nearby Umbrian village. On these excursions, students have a session with me, and may also wander: there are linens, pottery, cafes, bells, art and lovely unexpected discoveries. We have seen the paper maker, the bell maker, local artists, galleries and musicians. Most afternoons we return for lunch at the monastery and to the workshop space in the chapel.

The total cost is $5,550 for the two-week class, a double room, and all meals (wine is included for lunch and dinner).
The fee also includes our personal driver, who takes us out each day to an Umbrian village and provides transportation to and from the airport in Rome.
A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due at the time of registration. $2,550 is due by 2/15/2025, and the remaining $2,500 is due by 6/15/2025.

Workshop Location
Our home base is La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy. Those traveling by air will fly into Rome. We will coordinate arrivals and departures so that we can travel with our driver from Rome to our monastery in Umbria and back.
Attendance Policy
Due to the meditative and structural nature of my classes, spots are reserved for students who are able to attend the entire time. Cell phones, smart watches, and other pesky gadgets are forbidden in the classroom. (No exceptions.)
Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, please let my studio manager know as soon as possible by sending an email to noelle@lauriedoctor.com. If someone fills your spot, your payment will be refunded, minus your $500 nonrefundable deposit. If no one fills your spot, you will not receive a refund.
Registration
