Our source of inspiration for this class is Rilke’s poetry, and his universal wisdom in Letters to a Young Poet. Together we will create an atmosphere of inquiry and hands-on exploration of text using pens, brushes, shells and any other tools for making marks. The physical act of writing is a way to explore and deepen meaning. What does Rilke mean about time, about understanding, when he says:
"Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
We will document our exploration in a small book.
Space is reserved for those students who can attend both full days, and leave their cell phones behind.
