The Tarot is enveloped in many misconceptions. It is not a magic mirror, but rather a tool for cultivating intuition and insight. From a Jungian perspective, it is a reflection of the universal human journey. These paintings are a response to the 22 images in the Major Arcana. The word arcana means "profound secret." To the alchemists of the Middle Ages, the arcana was the secret of nature. In this context, the tarot cards are a collection of the "secrets" that underlie and inform our universe.
This exhibit is a showing of 22 new paintings that respond to the Tarot Major Arcana.
