It is a profound human instinct to want to re-create beauty- to hold it in our eye or heart a moment longer. In this class we will explore the relationship between drawing and lettering as a way of developing the quality of line and seeing beauty in a stroke. There are simple exercises that we will do that invoke the similarites between writing and drawing. The techniques that
we develop in class can later be applied to any alphabet one chooses to explore.

Writing tools, papers and objects of beauty will be provided.
