Horizon is defined as “the apparent juncture between earth and sky”. We all know what it is, can point to it in our landscape, and yet cannot ever reach it. It does not exist in any map, yet we have infinite ways of portraying it. It is a metaphor for our vision, for what we are reaching for.

We will explore the horizon, and other priniples of landscape, (distance, texture, movement and pattern) through lettering.

This workshop is part of a series that investigates the ways that the universal elements of line, as they are found in landscape, can be reflected through writing, drawing and painting. The exercises in this class lead one into more abstract expressions of writing with a variety of tools and materials in a comtemplative atmosphere.
