Think of surface not only as a noun, but also as a verb:
to emerge after concealment, derived from old French, sur, above, and face
We will experiment with different ways of
working the surfaces of paper using line and
texture. The materials we will use include acrylic,
watercolor, wax mediums, methly cellulose,
gesso, graphite, crayons, collage and inks. Each
student’s exploration will lead into discovering what the painting will become.
Writing and drawing techniques will provide detail and continuity. Music & poetry will give us inspiration.
We will work in a contemplative atmosphere
with each day having a beginning, middle and
end. So please leave your electronic devices behind and plan to be able to come for all four days.
All levels of exerience are welcome.
