I have a large and small sketchbook in progress at all times.
The small one I call Not A Day Without A Line, after the name of an exhibit by Paul Klee, and I carry it in my purse. The larger sketchbook is for bigger images and working out ideas for paintings and writing.

There is something about seeing work as it is in the making- even though, in my case, it may look like something altogether different in the end.
